Telling Time

Dreadful Things
Cleaning the toilet, cleaning the fridge, cleaning the track of the shower door.

The smell of perfume on a hot bus.

Falling behind.

Saying something cruel.

Things in the closet, under the bed, on TV, things coming out of my mouth, creeping up through the floorboards.

Dreadful things include donuts, ice cream, all manner of sugarfat nonfood, big sagging thighs with dimples, putting on a bathing suit manufactured after 1915.

Here are some more dreadful things: me, you, Mussolini, that's all.
